A few days ago we were going to take the trash out and then take the MRT to somewhere new. At 9:20 Chris took most of our trash out and I stayed and locked up and then took down the last bag. I heard the garbage truck song so I was rushing down the stairs like a mad woman and when I got to the bottom a Chinese man was pointing to the door and saying something to me in Chinese. I had NO idea what he was saying so I just pointed and said garbage. He then pointed and said the same thing again to me in Chinese. We were at an impasse. I pointed again and said garbage, sorry! and walked away.
The only words we have picked up so far are hello and thank you. Even when we went to Mexico for a week we were able to pick up about 15 words because it was pretty similar to the English language since they use the alphabet. But we are hoping to gather some more words in the year we spend here in Taiwan!
