This past week we went to a new beach called Qianshui Bay. On the MRT, we met a guy who travels the world who told us about a beach on the north coast that you could actually swim at and not be blocked off by ropes so we decided to go there! The man we met on the MRT was super nice and actually has traveled to Seattle and Vancouver before so it was fun to talk with him.:) He was almost 80 years old and still traveling the world! He told us he was going to Germany this week. He got on the MRT and walked right up to me and asked me where I was from. I was super excited that he has been to Seattle before!
So we went to this new beach and it was of course beautiful and the water was again like bath water...SO WARM! There was literally no one there so we had the whole beach to ourselves. We took a nap in the sun and went out in the water for hours. There was HUGE coral pieces in the water and we went wayyyy out in the water, about 100 yards, and was able to stand on the coral peaking out of the water. We noticed later that we actually cut up our hands trying to grab on to the coral. After the beach, we stopped by Tamsui and watched the beautiful sunset.
Now that some days are beginning to cool down, we noticed that all different types of creatures are starting to come out! We have seen two rats (gross I know!!!!) on busy city streets. One rat was soo big Chris thought it was a cat at first lol. We have also seen two lizards on our apartment stairwell and on the sidewalk. The infamous cockroaches are coming to life as well. We have only seen little ones, about as big as a fly, in our apartment. However, on the street they are HUGE...like 2-3 inches. Every time we see one we have a mini heart attach and yelp and jump back then make fun of each other for the outburst haha! But I swear if you accidentally stepped on one you would have the nastiest mess on the bottom of your shoe. There are also soooo many wild dogs around here. It is really sad! At first when I saw them it kind of freaked me out because I thought they might be aggressive having to fend for themselves. They always have marks and open wounds on them like they were just in a fight with another animal/dog. So sad! Anyways, I have Monday off for the Moon Festival so we are trying to find something fun to do! But I was told kind of late so a lot of things, like trains, are already all booked up...but we are still searching!:)
