Since we have been in Taiwan we have been pretty successful. Everyday we have picked somewhere new to go and explore and got there with no problem. Today was not one of those days. We tossed and turned all night because the thunderstorm was so loud. Then, this morning we took the MRT to an American grocery store we read about online that supposedly had a lot of good American products. We are trying to cook more at home rather than spend money and eat out so we thought we might have a good chance finding stuff at this grocery store we read about. At other grocery stores, we don't even know what half of the stuff is because it is not in English. So we try to take the MRT to this grocery store and we are not paying attention on the train and we miss the stop....take the train the other way and miss the stop again.....take the train back again and finally get off on the right stop. We walk about 2 miles and find the store and it is the TINIEST store ever. We only buy one thing of salsa. We walk another mile because we heard about a cool shopping area around there but can't find anything so we decide to walk back.
We don't really like to spend a lot of money on dinner we would rather have take out than a sit down dinner but we thought we should go for it tonight. If you have read my other blogs, you probably know that most food does not taste anywhere near the same as back home. Even same brands and restaurants taste a LITTLE different. Well we met an American from California at a grocery store and he told us about a place called Gordon's that is near Taipei 101 and they also have the same restaurant back in California. He raved about it so we decided it was worth a try. IT WAS AMAZING!!! They made probably the best burger I have ever had in my life!!!! I got chicken alfredo but Chris got a burger and garlic fries and his meal was sooooo good I ended up eating half of his meal and he had the other half plus my meal lol. My meal was actually really good too but his was unbelievable! When we are craving food from back home we will definitely go there again! We are still kind of on US time and wake up pretty early and go to bed early but everything here starts later. Most restaurants don't even open until 5-6pm. We have only been around Taipei 101 during the day but during the night it was so fun! It is way cooler during the night too which is why I think a lot of people come out later.
